Slide Step Rib Cloth

Inspired by a stitch found in a vintage pattern book printed on news print paper. I bought it at a garage sale minus a cover, so I don’t know the title of the book. Knit by my amazing test knitter Susan You can check her out on ravelry as woodlandstx.

Materials:
Any worsted weight 100% cotton yarn
Susan knit this pattern using Lion Cotton in Avocado.
Size US 7 needles
tapestry needle

Special Instructions:

Slip all stitches purlwise

yif = with yarn in front

yib = with yarn in back

Directions:

Cast On 38 stitches or # of stitches divisible by 6 + 8 border stitches

Knit 4 rows

Row 1: K4, *P3, yif, sl 1, yib, K1, yif, sl 1, repeat from *to the last 4 stitches, K4

Row 2: K4, *P3, K3, repeat from * to the last 4 stitches, K4

Row 3: K4, *P3, K1, yif, sl 1, yib, K1, repeat from * to the last 4 stitches, K4

Repeat Rows 1-3 fifteen more times.

Knit 4 rows

Bind Off.

Weave in Ends.

Morse Code Cloth

Materials:
Any worsted weight 100% cotton yarn in 1 or 2 colors (the pattern will specify when to use color A and B, but it can also be knit up in one color only).
Size US 7 needles
tapestry needle

Special Instructions:

All slipped stitches are purlwise.

yib = with yarn in back

yif = with yarn in front

Directions:

Cast On 43 stitches with Color A or # of stitches divisible by 6sts + 5 + 8 border stitches

Knit 5 Rows

Row 6: K4, P35, K4

Attach Color B

Row 7: K5, yif, sl 3, yib, *sl 1, K1, sl 1, yif, sl 3, yib, repeat from * to the last 5 stitches, K5

Row 8: K4, P1, yib, sl 3, *yif, sl 1, yib, K1, yif, sl 1, yib, sl 3, repeat from * to the last 5 stitches, yif, P1, K4

With A, Row 9: Knit

Row 10: K4, P35, K4

With B, Row 11: K4, [K1, sl 1] two times, *yif, sl 3, yib, sl 1, K1, sl 1, repeat from * to the last 5 stitches, K5

Row 12: K4, P1, sl 1, yib, K1, yif, sl 1, *yib, sl 3, yif, sl 1, yib, K1, yif, sl 1, repeat from * to the last 5 sts, P1, K4

With A, Row 13: Knit

Repeat Rows 6-13 eight more times.

Knit 4 Rows with A.

Bind Off.

Weave in ends.
